As if total air travel chaos in Europe wasn’t enough over the last three days there have been train strikes in France.
As of today Monday 19 April most trains are nearly back to normal except for all train travel to the south-east area, including Nice.
This news is not good for those stranded air travellers who are heading from Paris to Nice in order to connect with the Emirates flights from Nice to Dubai (and beyond). The train schedules for Tuesday 20 April will be released on the French rail website http://www.voyages-sncf.com at 17h00 on Monday 19 April.
As well the local trains in the Nice Cote d’Azur region are also on strike, with a very minimum service in operation.
During the volcano crisis it appears that Nice may be one of the earliest airports to operate out of Europe as they are situated at the southern extremity of the European “no fly” zone. But with trains from Paris being disrupted and all rental cars booked out, the situation appears complicated for travellers, and patience will be required!!
